A Vote for the Lady

A Vote for the Lady

Election season is upon us.  Despite the idea that it is an “off year,” meaning we are not electing the president, senators or congressional leaders, be sure to take advantage of the opportunity to cast a ballot in your local election.  Don’t be fooled by the lackluster advertising or the seemingly “it doesn’t really matter” attitudes of some folks. Recognize that real change can happen from the bottom. Local city, county and state elections DO matter.  If the candidate who best supports your ideas of a free and fair democracy doesn’t get enough turn-out, he will not be elected.  If the candidate who best exemplifies the compassion and inclusion that America stands for does not win her election, then she can not make a difference in office come next winter.  So, take the time to study the issues and check out the candidates. Qualified School Boards help insure a quality education for the children in our communities. City council members and County Supervisors can make a real difference in our communities and lives. Bond issues help fund important services, but need to be decided upon wisely.  Possible changes in laws are important to consider before voting. Explore the applicable websites, study the debates or declarations and vote your conscience.  A non vote is a no vote and the lady needs yes votes in order for her country to be strong.
